The beautiful sandy shores of North-East Florida are full of surprises. From finding sharks teeth, to visits from wildlife, each day at the beach is an unforgettable adventure. This rings true for this romantic Big Talbot Island Maternity Session that turned engagement. As a wedding and couples photographer, I often capture moments of commitment and connection. But, when gifted the opportunity to shoot a romantic surprise engagement, my heart grows a little bigger than usual. What began as a celebration of a new life on the sandy shore transformed into a surprise engagement that I will never forget!

As Michael nervously dropped to one knee, presenting an engagement ring to Shelby, her mouth dropped in disbelief! Little did Shelby know, I was in on the surprise all along. Previously, Shelby’s sweet mother had reached out to me to book their maternity session turned engagement. Anticipating the heartfelt moment, my shutter clicked effortlessly, capturing the genuine emotions of love and surprise between Michael and Shelby. Sometimes, the best photos emerge from the sweetest surprises.

There was a moment that we were concerned Shelby might have seen the text messages between Michael and I, and that the surprise was ruined. But, Shelby was unaware of any exchange of text messages or the upcoming bombshell of an engagement! Michel and Shelby are busy welcoming baby girl Raina Lauretta into our world. Soon, they will tie the knot signifying their partnership as lovers, parents, and one extraordinary family.

Truthfully, I am not sure I will ever be able to top this moment in my photography career. The promises made and love shared between Michael and Shelby in front of my lens makes for one of my favorite sessions to date. In short, expect to see Michael and Shelby’s perfect beach session again in the future!
